Continest Launches New Defence Innovation Subsidiary and Presents EDF-Funded TRAVISMOS Project

News

PRESS RELEASE

Budapest / Székesfehérvár, Hungary – 23 May 2025

Continest Technologies Plc. officially introduced its newly established defence-focused subsidiary, Continest Defence Lab, at an international press event on 23 May. The event also featured the first public presentation of the TRAVISMOS project, a forward-looking military training system backed by over €2 million in co-financing from the European Defence Fund (EDF).

Speaking at the event, CEO Vidor Kis-Márton outlined the strategic vision behind the Defence Lab. He arrived directly from Saudi Arabia, where Continest had just delivered a 1,000-square-meter foldable container office complex as part of the NEOM initiative, underlining the company’s ability to deliver scalable solutions worldwide.

Introducing Continest Defence Lab: Integrated Innovation for a Changing World

Continest Defence Lab was founded to meet the complex, evolving demands of military, civil defence, and humanitarian operations. Specializing in container-based, rapidly deployable infrastructure, the Lab manages the entire development process in-house—from concept and design to prototyping, testing, manufacturing, and field implementation.

“We’ve built a fully integrated development and production hub capable of taking complex ideas from blueprint to battlefield,” said Kis-Márton Vidor. “Our aim is to offer scalable, mission-ready infrastructure to defence and humanitarian stakeholders—anywhere in the world.”

Operating not just as a hardware supplier but as a technology integrator, Continest Defence Lab collaborates with academic institutions, defence contractors, and tech startups to embed a wide range of systems—such as sensors, communication networks, energy platforms, and simulation environments—into mobile container platforms.

“Our mission is to actively foster R&D partnerships across the defence ecosystem,” added Vidor. “We’re committed to building solutions that don’t just work in theory but deliver real value in real-world conditions.”

Continest has previously delivered mission-ready, container-based infrastructure to armed forces in the Netherlands, Israel, Hungary, Finland, the United States, and Slovenia. These deployments include command centers, mobile medical units, field kitchens, and advanced foldable shooting simulators.

TRAVISMOS: Modular, Data-Driven Military Training in a Box

The event also highlighted TRAVISMOS (Training with Vital Signs Monitoring in Modular Setup), one of the first major international projects led by Continest Defence Lab. With €2.24 million in EDF co-financing, TRAVISMOS is a fully integrated, mobile training platform housed in foldable containers.

The system offers:

  • Contactless, real-time monitoring of soldiers’ physiological and cognitive states during training
  • Immersive, high-fidelity simulation environments
  • Energy independence, powered by solar panels and onboard battery systems

Project Consortium:

  • Guardiaris (Slovenia) – Lead partner and simulation engine developer
  • Continest (Hungary) – Container and energy system integration
  • ITEC (Austria) – Battlefield audio system
  • Smartex (Italy) – E-textile and wearable sensor technologies
  • VTT (Finland) – Radar-based sensor fusion

The project is officially supported by the Hungarian and Slovenian Ministries of Defence. In the two days leading up to the announcement, the Hungarian Defence Forces conducted live trials of the TRAVISMOS system in Székesfehérvár. A demonstration for the Slovenian Ministry of Defence is scheduled for next week.
